  1. You make some excellent points Daniel, and you provide some good advice. Every web designer that I know displays an on-line portfolio, which displays examples of their best work. Anyone looking to hire a web designer should view the web design companies portfolio and read their client testimonials. They should also take the time to contact the web design companies clients for a referral.

  3. You are right Daniel, talent does matter, and so does experience. It is important for the client to do some research. They should learn what type of a website they want and how the website will help their business.

Take a look a the web designers portfolio and see if they have experience developing the type of website that they are seeking. There are web designers that work exclusively on WordPress websites, some are more experienced with eCommerce development.

I also think it is important to choose a local web designer, only because I think it would be easier for the designer to get to know you and your business better.

  4. What is good about hiring a web design company is that you don’t need to do the dirty work and go through all the sleepless editing nights. However, you should choose the company which can translate your main idea into an actual website. Keep in mind that you are not in full control of the building process. You should let the company understand your vision and the direction you want to take as a website owner. That way, they can effectively infuse their expertise, without clashing with your own preferences.

  5. I agree with the above comment. There is no need to waste a comoanies time working an a website themselves when they can hire a professioal company to do the work instead. This is especially true if a company has over 100 employees and over 1000 clients.

  6. I think what matters most is something that you would do after the website has been set up. Keeping the site up is a hard job, as you have to regularly update everything. Informing your target market about upcoming products, events, and even news from the company can truly help.
